The newly founded skillsFortWayne is offering these hands-on technical workshops:

Create a Personal Web Site will be Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 6:45-8:45 p.m in the computer classroom of the downtown branch of the Allen County Public Library. No previous coding skills are required.

In the workshop, students will secure their own domain names, create personal working Web sites based on WordPress and learn how to manage online tools. Class is limited to 18 students.

Cost is $40 for those who prepay or $45 at the door. Cost of workshop does not include cost of hosting a Web site, which costs about $6 a month.

Comprehend the Social Web will be Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 6:45-8:45 p.m in the computer classroom of the downtown branch of the Allen County Public Library. No previous experience with social Web sites is necessary.

In the workshop, students will learn the ins and outs of popular social Web sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter plus explore some online tools that help students build an online presence and have the Web sites work together. Class is limited to 18 students.

Cost is $40 for those who prepay or $45 at the door.
